This Bears Walter Payton Plaque is 15" x 12" with a vintage 8x10 photo, a deluxe engraved plate and a real football card. "Sweetness" played 12 seasons of beautiful football for the Chicago Bears. By the time of his retirement, he held the records for career touchdowns, rushing yards, carries and all-purpose yards ands many more. Walter made 9 Pro Bowls and 8 All-Pro Teams (5 First Team) in his career. Walter's best season came in 1977, where he rushed for 1,852 yards and 14 touchdowns (both league-leading stats) and Walter won his only MVP and Offensive Player of the Year trophies, along with being recognized as the NFL Man of the Year, now known as the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. Walter was also able to be the offensive factor for the famous '85 Bears defense that pushed them to a win in Super Bowl XX over the Patriots in a 46-10 blowout. Walter would retire after the 1987 season. He would be inducted into the Football Hall of Fame in 1993. Just a few years later in 1999, Walter would address the public about a rare liver disease that he was fighting. Walter would pass away a few months later in November 1999.
